Camels supporting Camels

Kat Serna, Junior.

This week, I met up with Kat Serna at the volleyball game supporting her Camels against William and Mary and asked her a few questions…

How long have you been at Campbell?
“I have been at Campbell since August, I actually transferred here from Iowa as a junior. It’s a lot different of an atmosphere here, but I really love it. It might be a small campus, but all the friends I’ve made here have immediately felt like family. I’m on the softball team, and everyone has been so welcoming and are always open to a conversation.”

Is this your first volleyball game?
“I actually went to a volleyball game a few weeks ago… they lost, but I have always loved going to sports games in college. The volleyball team here has a great energy, they make everything so exciting. I couldn’t help myself but come to another game.”

Being a part of athletics, do you know anyone on the volleyball team?
“I don’t know anyone actually, but I know several of my teammates are friends with a few of the girls. I might not know anybody on the team, but I just want to support my other female athletes.”

Are you excited for any other sporting events this season?
“I am excited for the football game later today. It’s been raining all day, but I know that won’t stop the fans from giving it their all. I love going to football games. Our team at Iowa may have been a power 5 school, but we never did well in football. Going to games at Campbell is fun because you know so many of the players since we are always in study hall together, and it’s just fun to see them play.”

Anything exciting you’d like to share?
“Softball starts their fall season this weekend against UNCP and would love to see people at the game!!!”
