Campbell University celebrated a monumental achievement on November 8th during Campbell Giving Day, witnessing an outpouring of support from alumni, students, parents, employees, and friends. Over the span of slightly more than 24 hours, an astounding 2,532 gifts were generously donated to the university, surpassing the initial goal of 2,300 gifts and shattering the previous record of 2,262 gifts from the prior year. Britt Davis, vice president for university advancement, expressed gratitude for the extraordinary response, highlighting the unprecedented unity displayed by the Campbell community.
The emphasis during Giving Day has always been on participation rather than the dollar amount, encouraging donors to contribute to the schools, programs, or initiatives close to their hearts. Robin Gordon, director of annual giving, lauded the collaborative effort of the community, emphasizing that such a significant accomplishment was made possible by collective support toward people, programs, and places. The Fund for Campbell, pivotal in addressing the university’s immediate needs, including scholarships, campus enhancements, faculty support, and vital initiatives directly impacting student success, garnered substantial support with 416 gifts committed.
Notably, Campbell Giving Day 2023 showcased remarkable student involvement. Students actively participated in Swipe Out Student Hunger, an initiative enabling them to donate meal swipes to fellow Camel peers facing food insecurity. Ninety students engaged in this charitable initiative, underscoring the strong sense of community and support among Campbell’s student body. Moreover, students set a record by contributing 200 gifts, signifying the significance of their involvement in supporting their alma mater. Alumni played a crucial role in the day’s success, volunteering on campus, rallying support, and driving overwhelming online engagement across social media platforms, amassing over 65,000 interactions. The accomplishments of Campbell Giving Day were made possible through the dedicated efforts of staff, faculty, and student workers who orchestrated various events and initiatives throughout the day, further strengthening the bonds within the Campbell community.
