Mental health in college students and athletes are very important. College is a major change especially for those just entering into college. Stress about classes, tests, daily eating habits, and many more flood students minds daily. Mental health in athletes results in sleep deprivation, less time because of practice, high stakes, physical health concerns, and fear of seeking the necessary help.
Students can minimize stress by:
- Building a support network of trusted people
- Taking care of physical health with good sleep, nutritious foods, and physical activity
- Pursuing hobbies
- Meditating
- Journaling
As a student athlete myself I have done these things to minimize stress and it has truly helped me. Stress isnt forever and it is controllable.
