Campbell’s performance at the Pepsi Florida Relays this past weekend was nothing short of remarkable, with standout achievements marking their presence at the Percy Beard Track in Gainesville.
Chastity Pickett stole the show, claiming the national spotlight with an outstanding time of 55.70 in the 400m hurdles, securing not only the best time in the country this spring but also smashing the previous CAA record set in 2016 by a staggering 1.34 seconds. Pickett’s excellence didn’t end there; she also showcased her prowess in the 100m hurdles, clinching fifth place with a commendable 13.17, a time that maintains a strong standing as the 20th best in the nation for the season.
Jaidyn Ramsey added to Campbell’s podium success, securing third place in the fiercely contested 100m event, crossing the finish line with a swift time of 11.32.
On the men’s front, Jamal Miller emerged as a standout performer for Campbell. Miller’s noteworthy achievements include a third-place finish in the 100m, clocking in at an impressive 10.19 (-0.3), a performance that currently ranks 22nd in the nation this spring, falling just shy of a CAA record by a mere 0.02 seconds. Additionally, Miller played a crucial role in the 4×100 relay, where Campbell clinched second place in a highly competitive field with a time of 39.22, a feat that not only secured them sixth place nationally but also established a new CAA record, surpassing the previous mark by 0.43 seconds.
De’Shawn Ballard made his mark by clinching a podium finish in the 400m event with a stellar time of 45.93. Meanwhile, Jamel Miller showcased his speed by claiming sixth place in the 200m, leading a trio of Camels in the top 15 with an impressive time of 20.48.
