Derek Rock is a senior here at Campbell perusing music with a teacher’s licence.

What is an interesting fact about you?

Everyone says I look like Andrew Garfield.

What are you doing after graduation?

Looking for a teaching job as a high school band director.

What has been your favorite class?

Definitely History of Jazz with Dr. Wilson. He is very passionate about the class and is a great teacher.

What will you miss most about Campbell?

I’ll miss playing in the ensembles and the people that play in them with me.

What is your favorite color?

Blue

What is a hobby of yours?

Playing a plethora of different instruments

Who is your inspiration?

Dr. Wilson. While working with him, I have learned so much about what I want to do with my life. It’s impossible to imagine someone being so good at his job. He takes on so much and is an incredible person.

What was your hardest class at Campbell?

Practicum for teachers. You need to get field experience, which is hard to fit into your schedule.

What is your favorite Campbell moment?

I have two. First, conducting the wind ensemble at a concert. I got to work with them on the piece, then conduct them through it and lead them to success at the concert. Also, moving my sister into Campbell for her first year. I liked getting to show her everything I loved about Campbell.

What is your favorite food?

Ice Cream. Especially Oreo milkshakes from Cookout and mint chocolate chip form Sunni Skys.
